BBS Movie Night!

#1
Jax has a Livestream account.

Jax has a Livestream account she never uses.

Jax has a collection of DVDs.

There are terrible life decisions at work here.

Tl;dr, I want to have a movie night... afternoon... whatever. Preferably a weekend, maybe after 3 PM EST on Fridays or later. YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS. LET ME HEAR THEM.

What I'm looking for:

1. If you want to do it.
2. What kinds of movies you want to see. (Jax also has an inactive Netflix account.)
3. How often you want it to happen.
4. When would work best for you.

Once those are squared away, this post will change into a proper introduction post, complete with the schedule for the first showing. b)'')b

Watson: Punch you?
Holmes: Yes! Punch me! In the face! Didn't you hear me?
Watson: I always hear "punch me in the face" when you're speaking, but it's usually subtext.

I'm all for a Movie Night! Anytime Friday and/or Saturday works best for me and whatever movie you have/what everyone agrees with I'm totally cool.

I'm totally up for that! Keeping in mind that I'm on the other side of the world, Saturday would work best for me! (3pm PST is about 11am for me!)

For timing, I think that maybe fortnightly or monthly would be good, because that gives plenty of time for us to plan and set time aside for the night/morning!

As for movies, idk! I have a large variety of tastes so I'm totally up for anything. I don't know why but the only thing that comes to mind is 'Chicken Run'. Pleased

Oh, I'd also be up with this, provided we can actually set a time when I can be around. 3 PM EST is around 10 PM for me, so that's probably the most suitable time but I can't promise I'll have time to be around for that every night. As for the movies, I don't really do R-rated or up (generally because of the violence), and I generally don't enjoy actiony thrillers all that much, but otherwise I have a pretty wide variety things I'll watch.

I'm inclined to vote for Disney/Pixar/other nostalgia-trippy and/or awesome children's movies, but it definitely doesn't have to be something like that.

I'll try and make time on my hectic RS/WoW-playing schedule to attend, but I can't promise anything.

Worse come to worse and I can't come, I can still offer you my body to use as a satellite. It's ideal to stream video data, but expect a bit of buffering every time my flabber wobbles!

I'm free after about 4 most days, disregarding homework (which I can sort of do while watching livestreams). I think that's 7 your time, Jax.

Sounds fun, I'd be down for that. Synchtube is a similar website, except for youtube videos. There's also an interactive theater sort of thing in the form of a Garry's Mod addon called Cinema, if anyone owns garry's mod.

HEY, GAIS. REMEMBER THIS.

So I've finally gotten back from nearly being murdered repeatedly by real life to say I am now ready to host our first ever Movie Night!

When shall it be? This Sunday, starting at 5 PM EST! (Although the time is negotiable because this is totally Mia's fault.)

What shall we be watching?

Clue, the 1985 murder-mystery comedy (yes, really) starring Tim Curry, Christopher Lloyd, Madeline Kahn, and several other names you didn't think would ever be thrown together. The movie is based on the Parker Brothers board game Clue (known as Cluedo to you international folk) and it sports not only fantastic one-liners and a closet full of shenanigans but also three possible endings, all of which we'll be seeing in our viewing.

Take a peek at the trailer here!

And for all our movie watchings, because we're a Pokémon board, we'll be offering a viewing of two (marginally) related Pokémon episodes after the showing. This week, the episodes on queue will be "The Ghost of Maiden's Peak" followed by "A Night in the Nacrene City Museum."

As always, feel free to direct your comments and questions right into this thread!

Ooooh, The Ghost of Maiden's Peak! It's possibly my favoritest Pokémon episode of all time. I've never seen it in English, either... I'm not entirely positive I'll be available for this, but you can be sure I'll do my best to attend at least a part of it!

(Question of attending in this case isn't so much a schedule question as a question of schoolwork - I have a deadline at midnight on Sunday, so it's entirely possible I'll be scrambling to get done before that. After it, though, I should be available, and in general my availability depends on how fast I get my work done.)

Totally okay. AND IT ROCKED.

AND THERE IS ANOTHER CHANCE FOR Y'ALL.

BECAUSE THERE WILL BE MOVIE NIGHTS THROUGHOUT THE MONTH OF OCTOBER.

Saturday nights, bitches. One movie (and maybe some random Grimer I find around the place) every weekend, starting from 8 PMish. ALL HILARIOUS/AWESOME OCTOBERY THINGS.

Le schedule!

October 5: Shaun of the Dead
October 12: Ghostbusters II (for those of you who missed the movie a couple weeks ago)
October 19: Mystery Science Theater 3000 presents Manos: Hands of Fate
October 26: Hocus Pocus (Or, if I'm unable to score a DVD of Hocus Pocus because there is no God, Mystery Science Theater 3000 presents Pod People OR The Fly.)

AND! We have also refined rules for the channel! Namely:

1. No spamming the Grimer out of the channel. For serious.
2. No linking to inappropriate material (porn, pics of gore and graphic violence, etc).
3. No linking to videos (because wtf).
4. No flaming or generally harassing any other person on the chan.
5. No, seriously, do not point out the lag unless you know how to fix it. We're already watching on mobile quality with the only two programs running being Livestream and VLC. I literally have no idea how to stop the video from lagging without refreshing every five minutes. Sorry!

That all said, hope to see you in a couple of weeks for Ghostbusters II!

Hm, you think people will come to your October 12 stream considering several of us might be playing Pokemon X/Pokemon Y? I really want to check out Shaun of the Dead, though. D: Maybe have it at an earlier date that's available for you?

Crossposting from Tumblr!

Do what I do and watch the movie while playing Pokémon? :D

Granted, I'd imagine it'd be tricky for people on the West Coast if they're getting the games later in the day, but for the people on the East Coast and over, it really depends on how you watch movies. If there's a major demand to have the movie moved, that could be something that happens, but I'd imagine that the latter half of October would in general be a terrible time for those who like to dedicate themselves to new games. So I'm not sure if rescheduling would help all that much if we're worried about whether or not people would be scarce due to X and Y.

Would it be possible to reschedule to an earlier date in the meantime? I'm not sure if that would be possible, honestly. Because I'm also hosting this on Tumblr for younger crowds, weekdays aren't going to be that great, and Friday nights are blocked off for me due to another event. The only other solution is to switch Ghostbusters II with Shaun of the Dead (especially given that a couple people have already seen it), but that also means that the other two or three viewings might still be an issue.

Yeah I know there are other games coming out in October. I pointed out X and Y since most of your Tumblr followers and the people here are in the Pokemon fandom and that's something a lot of us might be distracted over for a while (especially in the beginning when all of us will be like, "let's how much we can get through on the first day").

I'm in West Coast and it's likely I'll get the games later than the others. Usually I have the tv on when playing my 3DS, but that's mostly tv shows and not movies. I know some people still go online and play games at the same time and others don't (as you already said, it depends).

Thinking a bit more, I'm fine with Shaun of the Dead changed or stayed the same. I can watch the movie while I have my 3DS charged lol.
