Hello, pokemon fans, I'm the Ole' Schooler. (This is what a lack of creativity gets me.) As you may have guessed, I'm a big fan of the original 150, although I hear there have been some new pocket monsters out since my younger days of Red, Blue, and Yellow. :D
I mainly joined to try this new battling bit, but also to complain comment on new pokemon (*cough* Nosepass *cough*) and, well, generally fangirl.

ello there, welcome to the forums :) Most of us here are ancient enough to have loved Red Blue and Yellow back in the day so I'm sure you'll fit in well :P

You don't count in Mew? Interesting. Personally, I've been around only since 4th gen was old news already, so I'm effectively the opposite of you in that sense. Still, the first 151 hold a special place in my heart - or, well, about half of them, maybe - but I find the games have gotten much better since that. There's more variety, more to do, and some of the new pokeymans are my favourites. *:B You may call this sacrilege or me a newbie, but it's true for me either way.

Still, there are plenty of older fans here, like Deranged Epidemic said, and I'm sure you'll fit right in. Also, it's not much of a discussion if we all agree, now, is it? ;)

I welcome thee to the board. May thee enjoy thy time here.

Nice, another veteran and another fangirl, xD. Welcome to the boards, Ole_Schooler! *:D

The first games are special to me as well, what with seeing they're what got me into the franchise to begin with, haha. And I haven't really stopped since. =O

Hope you enjoy yourself over here. ^_^

No, I count Mew as being first-gen :D
See, the point of my siggy is to be hypocritical, as 1) there were always more than 150, 2) evolutions have always been numerous and silly, and 3) there was always more to games than battling. (Although I still think the happiness mechanic is a bit forced.)
I also think there have been some good additions since (such as most of the dark, steel, and ice pokemon) and first-gen had its issues.
Calling new stuff a sacrilege is either taking this too seriously or not seriously enough, I don't know. And it's good to know I'm not the only "old fogey" here ;)
Thanks for the welcomes!

Welcome to the forums!

Whereas I do have a love for the original 151, I suppose my true love comes about with second gen, since silver was the first game I actually played, whereas during the times of red/blue, I simply watched the anime and movie. (I wasn't allowed to have a gameboy, ehheh.)
