Basically the smilies were annoying some of us (including me, in places). While there isn't a decent mod to disable parsing of smilies in your posts to place on the User CP, I thought this would work in the interim. No, seriously. Even though lots of free forum systems have the option, vBulletin doesn't, and the responses from official staff don't seem all that helpful. =/

They basically become less intrusive. If you do want smilies, see the link I posted at the top of this post.

Sorry to those that were enjoying them, but it's not like I've taken them away. :happycat:

Edit: Holllld up, editing them more at the clever request of one of the customers!

Edit 2: I'm really not sure how it looks best. It's hard. xD; If anyone can think of a really good system...let me know.

Well, I'll suggest doing what I do with my emoticons on MSN:

I just put a '*' character in front of each code, thus meaning that I'll only produce the image if I really want to. *xD

Double post in the interest of announcement!

The smilies are now largely the same as they used to be, prefixed by an asterisk.

So, :] prefixed with an asterisk becomes *:]

Yay. If in doubt, look at the smilie code link at the very top of my first post in this thread.

We never took them away from you, so you should be able to post in there already. However, if you've got an issue (like with a warning sign or something), screencap it and post it. It might be a technical issue.
